KING'S LYNN 46 PIRATES 44

23/07/18

EMBROILED in a play-offs push with the Stars, this result could prove two points lost rather than the one point gained for the Pirates who never trailed until the heat 15 result.

Establishing a lead sufficient enough for the Stars to have to deploy a tactical ride for British champion Robert Lambert in heat 10 the promising Pirates were served well by debutant Chris Harris, who had fended off the young Brit to minimise the effect of that additional outing,  and, particularly over the first half of the meeting, double race winner Brady Kurtz.

But it was a heat 11 last place from Kurtz, beaten by Stars' reserve Simon Lambert that ultimately proved costly. The Poole number one had followed in the tyre-treads of oppo Niels-Kristian Iversen who had been well out of sorts in the previous heat, but, having twice led 4-2 heat advantages with fellow Aussie Josh Grajczonek, the missed opportunity to extend a four point lead over those latter stages, played into the Stars' hands.

A flying start from Ty Proctor, the rider who had been pulled out of his third programmed ride to allow Robert Lambert the tactical ride, allowed Lynn to stay within striking distance  and Robert Lambert and Iversenn did just that in heat 13, overcoming the quick starting Kurtz in the process.

Poole gave themselves a league point through sharing heat 14 and for the very early stages of heat 15 looked possible meeting winners as Harris led and Grajczonek was upsides Iversen but Robert Lambert took control of the latter laps to lead the home side to a slender 46-44 win that leap-frogged them over the Pirates in the table.
