The Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates return to the site of their narrowest defeat of the season on Friday night when they travel to Edinburgh for their penultimate away SGB Cab Direct Championship meeting.
Back in May Poole visited Armadale in the BSN Series and lost by just two points but a similar performance on Friday would see them earn the bonus point as they sit proudly at the top of the table, having built up a four point lead following their crushing defeat of Scunthorpe on Wednesday.
Away manager Gary Havelock will be hoping that the Pirates can go a step further this time around and seal Poole's ninth win of the season. Looking ahead to the meeting the former world champion said,
"It is a bit of a specialist track at Edinburgh but we have riders who can get round there. We were close earlier in the year and I thought we should have won it but the plan will be to go out there and give it our all. Who knows what will happen. Edinburgh are a good side this year but we are the Pirates and it is always very special to watch us ride.'
Poole will have Richard Lawson back at number one after his enforced absence due to suspension and promoter Dan Ford admits
"Richard will be wanting to go out and score some decent points, just like he always does, but having been out of the saddle for a week and missing a couple of fixtures will just make him hungrier no doubt. A win at Armadale would be a good antidote to last weekend's defeat at Berwick and will continue to show the other sides that the Pirates are here to win it (the title).''
Whilst Lawson returns, Will Cairns who was sensational at Wimborne Road on Wednesday night, will miss the trip due to Polish commitments and rider replacement will be in operation. Slater Lightcap will be making his away debut as a Pirate whilst Edward Kennett, who has joined the NDL for the remainder of the season, will guest in place of the injured Kyle Newman
