TOP TWO CLASH ON CAIRNS' DEBUT
Whilst many eyes are expected to be on the SGB Cab Direct Championship debut of Will Cairns, Poole promoter Dan Ford is keen that the focus will be...
Having last week seen off one side (Scunthorpe) that denied Poole a piece of silverware last season, the 'Wessex Marine ' Pirates will be seeking a similar performance on Wednesday night when the reigning league champions, Glasgow, come visiting
Any margin of victory will secure the table-topping Pirates three league points, following their victory at Glasgow last Friday. But the arrival of the Tigers brings someone really special to Wimborne Road, the spectacular Chris Bomber Harris. The 41-year old Cornishman is one of the most exciting racers in speedway and in recent years he has 'broken the hearts' of Poole fans when in opposition, but also sensationally played his part in Pirates' success of 2018.
Promoter Dan Ford is looking forward to welcoming the Tigers to Poole "I think we could be in for an exciting meeting on Wednesday night. You always know that when Bomber is in town then there will be some drama. He is one of those riders who is simply loved where ever he rides and his battles on Friday at Glasgow with Richard (Lawson), Ben (Cook) and Tom (Brennan) in particular was something to behold. He enjoys racing at Poole as much as anywhere and so we could be in for a real feast on Wednesday night. Once again I would remind fans with young families that we are operating a Kids For Free scheme here at Poole this season and with the school holidays upon us and , hopefully the eventual arrival of summer then a night at the speedway is the place to be"
Poole have built up an incredible sequence of being unbeaten at Wimborne Road since June 2022, a total of forty matches so far and amidst hopes of Tobias Thomsen being fit after his ankle injury last week, the league leaders are determined to increase that run.
Harris will have a fellow county man with him, as Plymouth's Ben Barker has been selected to guest in place of former Pirate Steve Worrall who is suffering with an ear infection. There will be an opportunity too, for fans to see Matej Ivacic make his Wimborne Road debut, the Slovenian having been recently signed by the Tigers as they continue to press for a play-off berth.
