ODD FOSSENGEN R.I.P.

1/01/18

Poole Speedway have been saddened by the news of the death of club favourite Odd Fossengen.

A Pirate between 1968 and 1974, the Norwegian star was a member of the British League title winning side of 1969 and accummulated nearly 1700 points during his Poole career.

The death of 72 year old Odd, who was an annual visitor to Wimborne Road circuit and always warmly receieved has come as a shock to the club as it begins it's Platinum Year celebrations.

Poole boss Matt Ford, who was informed of the sad news by team manager Neil Middleditch paid the following tribute
"I am heartbroken. Oddie was my first hero as a child. I can remember crying when he broke his leg at Oxford in 1974, an injury that sadly brought an end to his speedway career. It is quite a dreadful way to the start the year for older Pirate supporters like myself as Oddie was a rider whom you worshipped. He always gave time to everyone both throughout his racing career and after.
"My thoughts at this time are with Susan and his three daughters."
