The VOLVO CARS POOLE PIRATES will have a new helmsman for their visit to Wolverhampton on Bank Holiday Monday with Grzegorz Zengota signed as a stand-in replacement for his fellow countryman Krzysztof Kasprzak.
28 year old Zengota who has previous experience of British Speedway after two spells with Swindon and a term with Coventry, has been snapped up by Poole boss Matt Ford on a temporary arrangement whilst Kasprzak recovers from his shoulder injury.
"I did not want to rely on guests or rider replacement whilst KK is still sidelined and the availabilty of "Zengy" gives us the chance to continue to operate with a regular number one. Krzysztof will need time to fully recover and get himself back into the best shape possible as he is determined to pick up his form after his indifferent start to the season. We have some important meetings coming up and only a small window of opportunity to act before the first set of revised 2017 averages come into effect. Additionally, we have other absentees to contend with due to re-arranged dates (our trip to Wolverhampton) and World championship meetings and therefore it makes absolute sense for us to have as much stability within the side as possible and Grzegorz ticks those boxes."
"I would stress that this is an injury replacement move, in much the same way as we brought in Lewis Kerr after Kyle's (Newman) start of season injury and so providing that Krzysztof has proven to us that he is fully fit after 28 days we will look to re-instate him to the team and give him that opportunity to prove that he can rekindle his number one form."
"Of course I am hoping that Grzegorz will make it as difficult as possible, just as Lewis did, to have to release him because that will mean he is scoring well.
