HOLDER BACK FOR VISIT OF THE STARS

6/09/16

The 'ReadyPower' Pirates have been given an eve-of-meeting boost as Chris Holder has been declared fit to return to action after damaging his wrist on Sunday in Poland.

Holder, who already had a screwed plate in his wrist from an injury sustained last season, hurt the wrist when he was brought down in heat 15 of his Polish club, Torun's play-off semi-final against Zielona Gora. Whilst Holder went out for the re-run he was struggling to hold the machine and he immediately reported for x-rays. Thankfully they proved that no bones had been broken but it has only been due to an intense physiotherapy session today (Tuesday) before he has been able to get better movement back in the wrist.

Poole boss Matt Ford admitted "I was mightily relieved when I received the message this afternoon from Chris declaring his fitness and I am sure Poole fans will be as pleased as I am that he is back."

The Pirates will still be without skipper Hans Andersen and Pole Krzysztof Buczkowski when they host King's Lynn (7.30pm) on Wednesday whilst the visitors will arrive without Niels-Kristian Iversen and the injured Simon Lambert.

Poole have booked former Pirates Rohan Tungate and Edward Kennett as cover whilst the Stars will have Chris Harris and Robert Branford covering for their absentees. In addition, Somerset co-promoter and team manager Garry May will be taking control of the Stars for the meeting.

The outstanding fixture that sees Poole, who are confirmed play-off semi-finalists,  travel to King's Lynn has now been firmed up for Tuesday 13th September, just 24 hours after the penultimate league fixture at Belle Vue.
