Darcy Ward is now back in the UK to begin his rehabiltation after sustaining serious injuries in a track crash in Poland last Sunday.
Whilst Ward's family have requested privacy on the extent of Darcy's injuries at this time the speedway world is rallying round the Queenslander in many ways.
Poole team manager Neil Middleditch and Ward's racing colleagues Chris Holder and Dave Watt spent most of their time at close quarters to Darcy during his hospital stay in Zielona Gora, whilst Australian team manager Mark Lemon and has been instrumental, along with Darcy's sponsor Monster Energy, in arranging for a return to the UK.
Lemon has now released details of the official support fund for Ward, saying "The support Darcy has received since Sunday has been overwhelming. But if there’s anyone who can kindly donate any amount, big or small, we’d be really grateful. The fund has been set up online via https://pledgie.com/campaigns/30061
Dave Watt took to Twitter to record his thanks to everyone involved with Darcy's club Zielona Gora and the care given to Darcy in the aftermath of the incident.
