Fanatical Poole Speedway fan Scot 'Scotty Dog' Mitchell will be hoping to repeat the Pirates' recent successes as he seeks to win the BDO World Championship at Lakeside.
The 44-year old Dorset resident Mitchell gained a place in the quarter finals at his sixth attempt in the prestigious competition when he overcame the threat of Belgium's Geert de Vos 4-2 on Wednesday and will now contest Friday's last eight matches.
The fourth seed is a regular at Wimborne Road and Pirates' owner Matt Ford was one of the first to offer congratulations to 'Scotty Dog' after his defeat of de Vos saying "on behalf of all at Poole Speedway I offer our congratulations to Scott. It is always good to hear of sporting successes for the area especially one of our own truly enthusiastic fans and we will be behind him all the way as he looks to make further progress in the competition. I really hope he has a place at the oche for Sunday's final"
