THIRD TIME LUCKY FOR MIDDLO ON AUGUST 31st

6/07/22

NEIL MIDDLEDITCH will be hoping it's ‘third time lucky’ as he finally launches his testimonial on August 31st 2022.

After a remarkable 38 years since first being awarded the event, the former Pirates captain, and now Team Manager, has been thwarted on two previous occasions.
Having lost the entire proceeds of his 1984 meeting when the then promotion went into administration, and with the Covid 19 lockdown just a week before his re-staging in 2020 it’s been a long time coming.

Middlo, as he is affectionately known to thousands of fans, now hopes that the weather will be kind and all will go smoothly when the day arrives next month.
Plans are well advanced for two teams of track stars to go head to head in a challenge event over 15 races. The teams sponsored by County Crest Pallets and Meridian Lifts (in the name of the late Joanne Tomlin) are sure to be filled with a mix of top names and Pirates regulars from 2022. The event is sponsored by Lovett International, Estate and Lettings Agent, based in Poole.

Middleditch said, “I’m incredibly touched by the amazing response I’ve had, in preparation for the meeting. Most of what we had planned back in March 2020 is still in place and I’m so grateful that, almost without exception, everyone who offered sponsorship and support then has stayed on board. There are some truly incredible people in this sport and, to be honest, that’s one of the reasons why I am still in it!”
He continued, “I will shortly be revealing names of some of the riders who have given their commitment to the meeting and I know that there will be a lot to look forward to, as there are some exciting riders who aren't seen so often at Wimborne Road these days”.

Pirates owner, Matt Ford, has long stated that, due to Neil losing out in such unfortunate circumstances in 1984, he would do his utmost to ensure that, under his tenure, Middlo would finally be granted his due benefit.

More news will follow in due course but Neil confirms the meeting on 31 st August will start at 7.30pm and admission will be at standard Poole Speedway rates.
