PIRATES QUALIFY FOR BSN SEMI'S

In the birthplace of Australian founder Captain James Cook, the Poole Wessex Marine Pirates sailed easily into the Grand Final of the BSN series with their very own Cook boys masterminding a terrific 52-38 victory over the Redcar Bears.
The brothers, Ben and Zach, combined superbly in heat seven to lead home their former team-mate Danny King for Poole's second maximum heat score of the night and establish a double-figure aggregate lead at 72-60. With back to back 4-2 advantages from pairings Ben Cook and Adam Roynon followed by Richard Lawson and Kyle Newman, those Cook boys were on the money again in heat ten to all but put the tie to bed (85-65).
Clinical gating throughout by the Pirates, three of whom were carrying start-line warnings, gave the Bears very little opportunity to even begin clawing back their six point deficit from the first leg, as Poole's hunger to maintain their proud record of reaching the final of every competition they have ridden in since transitioning to Championship level, was far greater than that of Redcar on the night.
Poole promoter Dan Ford said "Really proud of the boys tonight. You couldn't have asked for any more. They came here facing a tough task but had the determination and the ability to go out there and get us over the line with a few heats to spare. All six riders tonight gave their all, but it was quite fitting that it was the Cook boys who did the big damage, considering how famous that name is in these parts."
The Pirates, aggregate winners by 100-80, will now face Glasgow in the Final.
