NEWMAN BLOW

15/04/14

Poole's influential Fast Track Development Rider Kyle Newman could be facing a lengthy time on the sidelines after crashing at Peterborough on Tuesday night.

Newman, who put in his best Elite performance during Poole's televised win over Coventry on Monday was stretchered from the East of England Showground track with his left leg splinted and taken to hospital for examination

Immediate x-rays indicated that there were no broken bones although the extent of the swelling made the diagnosis inconclusive, and he will undergo further scans and x-rays today (Wednesday).

Pirates' boss Matt Ford said "Right now I just feel for Kyle. He was doing what he enjoys doing most, racing, and we saw on Monday just exactly how much his riding has come on this season. I understand that he had a very uncomfortable night and that is concerning. We will know more once the further tests have been performed but the loss of Kyle from our side is a major blow for the team, but most of all for Kyle himself.

"I'm sure I speak on behalf of all Poole fans when I wish him a speedy recovery."
