KING'S LYNN 48 PIRATES 45

The Ready Power Pirates almost pulled off a remarkable comeback at the Adrian Flux Arena but just missed out in the final heat of this league encounter against King's Lynn.

Needing a 5-1 from the last heat and fielding their two top stars Chris Holder and Maciej Janowski the Pirates completed the first lap with that maximum advantage within their grasp, but the highly impressive latest Team GB recruit Robert Lambert completed a fine evening's work by combining with skipper Niels-Kristian Iversen to go either side of Janowski and deny the Pirates the Holy Grail they had been seeking.

Holder was simply in fine form and would have gone through the card had it not been for a minor error in heat 5 which young Lambert was quick to punish.

Beginning to find some consistency in his game Holder won heat 8 when on double points to ease Poole back in the match after they were 27-15 down after 7.

But the turning point for Poole came when North and Janowski paired up for a shock 5-1 over Lambert and Iversen in heat 11 and then Newman won the second reserves heat to hold Poole within striking distance at 40-35 after 12 heats.

Newman replaced the pointless Watt in heat 13 although couldn' t quite find a way by Lambert for a point to add to Janowski's excellent win but when Dakota North and Kacper Gomolski fired in a penultimate heat 4-2 advantage the Pirates sensed a chance to steal the match.

Lambert and Iversen had other ideas and that double pass on the Poole skipper put them back to second place in the table at the expense of the Pirates.
