ITS THOSE FOUR POINTS AGAIN!

21/08/26

For their fourth consecutive away meeting the Pirates just came up short by four points, losing to their main protagonists for the league's top spot, Glasgow Tigers ,by that all too familiar 47-43 score-line.

Slater Lightcap showed his worth to the club with a highly commendable paid eleven points from seven rides whilst William Cairns won three of his five outings. T

he meeting went to a last heat decider when Lewis Kerr and Lightcap secured a 4-2 in the penultimate heat, that levelled the scores on the night, but Richard Lawson and Zach Cook could not quite repeat their exploits of the super heat which secured last year's title, although they both battled hard on Chris Harris to try and deny the Tigers that winning heat advantage.

Afterwards, Kerr admitted,

"Heat fourteen was personally good for me for the drive home but it was a frustrating night all round. We were all changing things trying to find the right way to go, but this is a tough place to come and I suppose we got the bonus point so that helps. But before the parade we found a little nut on my pit mat and we just couldn't work out where it had come from. Just didn't recognise it and it ended up being a nut off my clutch arm. I had felt like the clutch was slipping all meeting and so we put a new pack on with the nut and it felt like a totally different bike! "

With the aggregate bonus point posted to their total the Pirates need to beat Plymouth on Wednesday night at Wimborne Road and hope that Glasgow don't pick up maximum points from their remaining three meetings, the first of which is on Tuesday at Plymouth where they defend an eight point advantage.
