BIG WEEK AHEAD BEGINNING WITH BANDITS

Poole 'Wessex Marine ' Pirates will continue to push towards the top of the SGB 'Cab Direct ' Championship table this week with three crucial meetings in the space of four days.

They travel to their two local rivals on back-to-back nights later this week, heading to Oxford on Friday (31st) and then Plymouth on Saturday (1st) but the immediate focus is to overcome their Knockout Cup conquerors Berwick Bandits on Wednesday at Wimborne Road.

The Bandits provided stubborn opposition when they visited in that cup competition, restricting Poole to just a four point win, and Poole promoter Dan Ford is confident that the closeness of that meeting will be excellent motivational material for the Pirates who head into the meeting fielding two guests, both from Oxford.

"Berwick showed us last time that they have no fears of coming here. Stewart Dickson their team manager told his riders to believe in themselves and they certainly did, but equally our boys all know that they can up their game this time around and I believe that they will. We have been able to bring in Sam Masters for Richard (Lawson) who unfortunately misses this one because of his Danish league commitments and Eddie Kennett who was sensational at Scunthorpe when he last guested for Fraser (Bowes). I think that with a solid school holiday crowd backing us on Wednesday we can maintain our league momentum but we know that we are going to be made to work very hard for a result."

Berwick will be without their number one Peter Kildemand who is also riding in the Danish league and they have booked Drew Kemp to deputise.
