PIRATES DEALT PRE-SEASON SET-BACK
The Pirates have been dealt a setback on the eve of the 2026 season, with Dan Gilkes confirming he will not be ready to start the campaign.
Following the success of last year’s fund raiser, the Poole Riders Equipment Fund (REF) members are hosting another speedway darts night on Wednesday 25 February 2026 at The New Inn, Wimborne Road, Poole (BH15 2EL) starting at 19.30.
A team representing the Pirates will take on a team representing the Buccaneers after which an individual contest will take place for The Speedway Darts Golden Helmet.
The darts run on a very informal basis, so players of any standard are more than welcome to take part. Non dart players will also be welcome to pop along to talk over the Pirates prospects for the upcoming season.
Admission will be by a minimum donation of £5.00 to the REF.
2026 Pirates Dan Gilkes and Will Cairns hope to be playing under the watchful eye of team manager Neil Middleditch who has also indicated that he will be on the oche. Pirate’s darting supremo Scott Mitchell will be on hand ready to take on supporters who fancy a chance on lowering the colours of the former World Champion.
