PREVIEW: PIRATES HEAD TO DEVON LOOKING FOR POINTS

25/04/25

Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates will be out to make it three from three when they travel to Plymouth on Saturday 26th April (7pm) in the BSN Series Southern Group.

Having won their opening away fixture to Oxford by a superheat verdict, the Pirates followed up that start to the season with a comprehensive 26 point winning margin at home to Plymouth on Wednesday. That result puts the Pirates in a strong position to earn the aggregate bonus point at the very least, but they will head west at the weekend looking to return with a further three group points to their tally.

Poole promoter Dan Ford admitted "there is no doubt that Plymouth will be providing a sterner test for us on their home patch than they managed at our place on Wednesday but victory there is certainly not beyond us. It's a place where our team this season have all, individually, with the exception of Matt [Marson] who is still finding his feet, enjoyed decent performances in the past, and whilst I know they have made some further changes to the track over the winter we will head there knowing we have a job to do, a job that we are more than capable of delivering on."

Whilst Poole have two wins under their belt it is the opposite story for their Saturday night hosts who have lost both their first two fixtures, having twice surrendered a seven point lead to lose by such a margin at the hands of Oxford last weekend.
The Gladiators' Norwegian signing Lasse Fredriksen starred in that meeting with a 12 point haul but International commitments will prevent him from taking his place on Saturday, which could be a major blow for the Devonshire side.

Teams:
Plymouth (TM Garry May) 1 Nicolai Klindt 2 Alfie Bowtell 3 Mitchell Cluff 4 Joe Thompson 5 Ben Barker (Capt) 6 Zaine Kennedy (Guest) 7 Ben Trigger
Poole (TM Neil Middleditch) 1 Richard Lawson 2 Tobias Thomsen 3 Anders Rowe 4 Zach Cook (Capt) 5 Lewi Kerr 6 Paul Starke 7 Matt Marson
