2022 Pairs winner Lewi Kerr is hoping to add a second success in the competition, when he lines up with Poole Wessex Marine Pirates' captain Zach Cook on Saturday (5th April)
The first major competition of the 2025 comes early in the season with Workington hosting the event, which sees all nine SGB Cab Direct Championship sides battling for the title of 2025 Championship Pairs winners.
Kerr won the competition with Charles Wright, beating the Pirates, pairing at the time of Steve Worrall and Danny King when hosted at Oxford three seasons ago,, but with the event switching to Cumbria, the Norfolk based rider admits "I enjoy the pairs and it is at a track that I really like and can do good there. I just want to win trophies with Poole."
For Kerr it will be a first competitive action of the season, as he only has Poole commitments currently this year, but partner Zach has been getting laps in with his Premiership club Belle Vue.
The duo will race against four other pairings as they seek qualification to the semi final and ultimately the final. Their first opponents will be the Redcar pairing of Erik Riss and Charles Wright before facing Edinburgh's duo of Justin Sedgmen and 'Paco' Castagna. Plymouth rivals Nicolai Klindt and Ben Barker await them for their third ride, before facing off against Sam Masters and Jordan Jenkins in the final qualifying heat.
After the Pairs event, Kerr will head to the east of the country for Sunday's SGB Championship Rider's Final, which is being ridden this year st Scunthorpe (3pm), where he will face rivalry from Poole's number one Richard Lawson who finished third in the competition last year.
