DAN HEADING FOR NUMBER TEN
New signing Dan Gilkes will be making his tenth team appearance at Wimborne Road when the tapes go up on Good Friday (6.30pm).
The nightmare of trying to resolve racing dates for the crucial meetings ahead has taken a further twist with Poole's visit to Redcar on Sunday (5th October) now reverting to its original designation of the SGB Cab Direct Championship play-off second leg.
This change will not affect the staging of the MaxiCab Knockout Cup final at Wimborne Road on 8th October, although that will now become the first leg, with the Pirates agreeing to return to Teeside on Friday 10th October for the decisive second leg.
Dan Ford explained, "It is not ideal having to miss out on the second leg of the cup final which we were entitled to stage, especially having taken the first leg of every semi-final, but we have looked at the bigger picture and agreed to the change of plan. We still have a BSN Series final to resolve, our opponents in that being either Redcar or Glasgow and, if we can defend the six points we hold in the play-off final will have the Grand Final to fit in against Glasgow. We are now in the final month of the season and the situation we find ourselves in necessitates some degree of flexibility. "
