SEMI FINAL ACTION AGAINST BIG CATS SEES OUT THE SUMMER HOLS

25/08/25

Chris 'Bomber' Harris is the draw card for the last Wimborne Road speedway meeting of the school holidays as the league's top two sides go head to head seeking a place in the Knockout Cup final.

Glasgow will pip the Pirates for top spot in the SGB Cab Direct Championship, if they beat Edinburgh on Friday, ahead of the league play-offs, and like the Pirates,  still have the chance of making three finals this season.

An enthusiastic Dan Ford said, "the way the fixtures have fallen for us I don't think there can be any better way to end the school holidays than having Bomber at Poole. The guy is loved by fans up and down the country and here at Poole he never fails to make the headlines, be it riding for or against us. On Wednesday he is in opposition and along with Dan Thompson and Kyle Howarth the Glasgow Tigers have a fierce heat-leader trio about them , but equally in Richard (Lawson), Anders (Rowe) and Zach (Cook) we are a good match for them. We are delighted to have Tobias (Thomsen) back for us after his injury guesting for Plymouth that ruled him out of our Oxford trip last week. Toby has been hitting some good form of late and we all remember how he came to the fore in the big meetings of the season last year so I am hoping that we can set our stall out against Glasgow and do a similar job on them as we did to Oxford in the BSN semi-final first leg a fortnight ago."

With Thomsen back in the side,  Poole are at full strength but the Tigers have former Pirate, Max Perry,  ruled out through injury sustained last Friday when Glasgow took a major step in the Championship chase with a win at Edinburgh. Dayle Wood will guest for him. The Tigers also arrive without Villads Nagel as he will be riding for his Danish league club Grindsted and so Workington's Fraser Bowes, scorer of an impressive 13 points when the Comets visited last month,  steps in.
