With no Wednesday night action this week the next time the speedway bikes will roar around Wimborne Road will be Sunday afternoon (5pm) with fans able to celebrate the Testimonial meeting for the ever popular Richard Lawson.
Poole promoter Dan Ford describes Lawson as "a tremendous servant to British Speedway" adding, "his contributions to us at Poole have been nothing short of outstanding. We’re hoping for a big turnout to honour Richard and show our appreciation for everything he’s brought to the Pirates. He’s put together an excellent line-up thus promising a thrilling meeting and I am looking forward to celebrating Richard with all of you this Sunday!"
Lawson has, indeed, assembled a competitive line-up for his big meeting, which takes the form of a team competition with a Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates Select side taking on the 'Roger Warnes All Star Select. Due to late requirements in Poland for Sam Masters and Anders Rowe, Lawson has had to shuffle his initial sides around and Charles Wright will represent the Poole side along with the Cook brothers, Sam Hagon, himself, Adam Ellis and popular Wimborne Road performer Chris Harris. They will be in opposition to a side, managed by Stewart Dickson made up of Lawson's Leicester team mates, Ryan Douglas and Craig Cook, with Troy Batchelor, Josh Pickering ,Lewis Kerr, Dan Thompson and another long-term Wimborne Road favourite, Scott Nicholls.
Additionally, the racing will be interspersed with demonstration heats from a quartet of junior rides Cooper Rushen, Archie Rolph, Seth Norman and Charlie Southwick.
