High excitement, total effort and moments of controversy are all but guaranteed on Wednesday night when knockout speedway comes to Wimborne Road.
A further upturn in season ticket sales experienced by the Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates has fuelled the determination of promoter Dan Ford to reclaim the league and cup crowns that slipped through the net last season.
Announcing that year on year the trend of season ticket increases since the club had re-joined the second tier of British racing, Ford said "I am really pleased to see so many supporters sticking by us and showing their loyalty. Since joining the Championship in 2021 we have seen the number of Season ticket holders increase each year and that is so encouraging for us as a club, especially as, by our standards, we had a barren 2023, with just the BSN title claimed. I can't emphasise enough just how much we value the backing of our fans and when we talk to riders we make it clear that we want to win because we believe our fans deserve winning sides. It hurt us last year allowing the league and cup to get away but I can assure our supporters that the riders we have assembled for 2024 are as determined as I am to get those trophies back in our cabinet."
Ahead of the closing date for applications for season tickets that is Monday 11th, Ford is opening the doors of the club's track shop across the weekend for even more fans to have the opportunity of purchasing their season tickets. The shop will be open between 10 and 2pm on both Saturday (9th) and Sunday (10th) . Besides season ticket sales there will be the chance to purchase a wide range of club merchandise in readiness for the season which gets underway for the Pirates on Friday 29th April with the Good Friday BSN showdown against the Oxford Cheetahs.
