DAN HEADING FOR NUMBER TEN
New signing Dan Gilkes will be making his tenth team appearance at Wimborne Road when the tapes go up on Good Friday (6.30pm).
Round four of the Australian Championships brought about a semi-final exit for Ben Cook after he scored nine points from the qualifying heats at Mildura, whilst Zach Cook had to settle for a five point tally, which included one heat win.
Ben opened with a second place behind Sam Masters in heat one but then ran two third places from heats six and ten. But victory in heat fourteen over Keynan Rew and Jaimon Lidsey bolstered his hopes of making the top eight and his third behind Jack Holder and Max Fricke in heat eighteen left him sweating on the outcome of the final two heats. They went in his favour and that pitched him against Brady Kurtz, Fricke and Masters in the second semi-final but he couldn't make any further progress to the final.
Zach started with a last place, a position he repeated in his fourth ride but had two third places and a heat twelve success to his name.
The Championship, currently being led by Fricke with a five point advantage over Rohan Tungate, concludes on Saturday at Gillman.
Standings after four rounds: 59 Max Fricke, 54 Rohan Tungate, 48 Jack Holder & Jaimon Lidsey, 40 Brady Kurtz, 36 Ryan Douglas, 34 Sam Masters & Josh Pickering, 32 Ben Cook 31 Chris Holder, 24 Zach Cook, 17 Keynan Rew, 15 James Pearson, 9 Justin Sedgmen ,8 Fraser Bowes, 7 Michael West, 5 Tate Zischke, 4 Jye Etheridge,3 Jack Morrison
