PIRATE PAIR HAVE TITLE ON THEIR MINDS

12/08/22

After scorching to maximums on Wednesday night both Danny King and Steve Worrall are full of confidence ahead of Friday night's SGB Championship Pairs event at Oxford.

Skipper King who had four straight wins against the makeshift Plymouth Gladiators admitted "Oxford is a track that both Steve and I enjoy racing at and we have gone quite well this season there. I think people can see for themselves that I am feeling confident in my machinery now  and if we go out and ride like we have been then we must be in with a great shout to win the event."
All current ten Championship clubs are engaged in the competition, which sees two groups of five pairs. Each club will race once against the other members in their group with the top two pairs from each section progressing to the semi-finals.
The scoring system is on the basis of 4-3-2-0 which means it is crucial to avoid last places to take the heat advantages. King and Worrall find themselves in the same group as Plymouth,  Berwick, Redcar and staging club Oxford, whilst the A group consists of Leicester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Scunthorpe and Birmingham.
Poole promoter Dan Ford believes that the Pirate duo are amongst the favourites and commented "It would be fantastic if Steve and Danny can clinch this silverware and we can have it on show at our meeting next week where we are hoping to attract a lot of new faces with our special Summer Holiday discounted meeting, with admission prices being £10 for Adults, OAPs and Concessions, £6 for students and under sixteens absolutely free. "

Expected pairings:
GROUP A:
LEICESTER: Nick Morris, Richie Worrall
EDINBURGH: Kye Thomson, Josh Pickering
GLASGOW: Danyon Hume, Benjamin Basso
SCUNTHORPE: Ryan Douglas, Simon Lambert
BIRMINGHAM: Justin Sedgmen, James Pearson

GROUP B:
POOLE: Steve Worrall, Danny King
PLYMOUTH: Ben Morley, Harry McGurk
BERWICK: Chris Harris, Jye Etheridge
OXFORD: Scott Nicholls, Aaron Summers
REDCAR: Charles Wright, Lewis Kerr

Any supporters wishing to attend the Pairs event at Oxford will need to purchase tickets in ADVANCE via the Oxford Speedway website as it is an all-ticket meeting.
