Poole Pirates, and British Speedway will pay tribute to Bjarne Pedersen at Wimborne Road on Wednesday 30th March when they host a challenge match featuring sides representing the two championship winning sides of the 2021 campaign.
The "Dad's Army" monikered Peterborough 'Thermohome' Panthers side, for whom Bjarne was an integral player in his final racing season, will field Scott Nicholls, a Danish quartet of Hans Andersen, Ulrich Ostergaard, Michael Palm-Toft and Peter Kildemand, and will be completed by Jordan Palin and 2022 Pirate Nathan Ablitt.
The Poole 'Link Fabrication' Pirates side will comprise the other six of their 2022 team, namely, Danny King, Steve Worrall, Richard Lawson, Drew Kemp and the Australian Cook brothers, Ben and Zach, with GB International Adam Ellis as a special guest.
The meeting, in honour of the club's second all-time highest point scorer is one that Poole promoter Dan Ford is eagerly anticipating, "we are looking to make this a memorable evening for Bjarne who has been the consummate professional throughout his long career. In addition to the challenge of the two clubs that won the leagues last year we are also planning a series of upright demonstrations and some youth races too, whilst Bjarne himself will take to the track for his final laps to seal his British career. I think it will be the perfect way to kick-start our speedway season and I hope that we can attract a large crowd to honour Bjarne for the service he has given to British racing."
Advanced tickets for the event will be on-sale in the early days of March, whilst a pay-at-the-gate option will also operate. Opportunities, ranging from rider sponsorship and heat sponsorship are still available and anyone interested can access more information here or by contacting info@poole-speedway.com
