DAN HEADING FOR NUMBER TEN
New signing Dan Gilkes will be making his tenth team appearance at Wimborne Road when the tapes go up on Good Friday (6.30pm).
Three-times British U19 Champion Drew Kemp has been confirmed as the sixth rider in the Pirates Championship defence season.
The 19 year old German born talent comes into the side renewing his links with Pirates captain Danny King, as the pair were team-mates for Ipswich in the past two seasons. Kemp had already been confirmed as part of Wolverhampton's Premiership side for 2022, where he will ride with another Pirate, Steve Worrall. He was also a member of the Eastbourne side, just like Nathan Ablitt, before the Eagles were forced to close in 2021.
Poole promoter Danny Ford said, "Drew is truly an emerging talent and we are delighted to welcome him to Poole. He has gained experience already at international level and we feel he has a very good future ahead of him. He joins us with an average just over three and a half points, a figure that we believe he will improve on, and that fits the bill just perfectly for us."
Kemp joins King, Worrall, Ablitt, and the Australian Cook brothers, Ben and Zach as confirmed starters for 2022 leaving the Pirates with just one berth to fill.
