The top two performers from Poole's double winning Championship season of 2021 will be back to spearhead the Pirates assault on a 'treble' in 2022.
Leading points scorer Steve Worrall, and Danny King, the former British Champion who skippered the Pirates to the league and cup titles, are the first two confirmed starters as announced by co-promoter Danny Ford.
"I am delighted to have Steve and Danny back on board for a second season. Obviously, it will come as no major surprise to our supporters, especially given the fact that we are the final club to release any team details. But I am sure that most fans will be as pleased as I am to have them leading us into our second season back at Championship level.
Worrall, who undertakes a five and half hour drive to home meetings admitted "I am thrilled to be back. I enjoyed every minute of it last season, there is such a great atmosphere here at Poole and I just grabbed the opportunity to return with both hands to return once I was offered the chance to return. I can honestly say that the long journey each week never even cropped in to my mind. Riding for Poole is a no-brainer. They have a reputation for putting good sides together and from what I am aware of it is going to be fantastic again. I am happy to be in the side with Danny again, he is my little driving buddy too, as I travel down most of the time with him. I am really looking forward to being back."
Skipper Danny King is equally as enthusiastic, declaring himself to being "over the moon" having been recalled after a great season for the club in 2021. "Last season couldn't have really gone any better for the Pirates to be honest. I came here knowing of the desire within the club to win titles and that excited me. I was keen to be part of that challenge and hopefully we can have more of the same this year. I didn't want to go anywhere else to be honest so when the offer came up it was an easy deal to get done. It's looking like another good side being built this year and I am really looking forward to getting going."
Further team revelations are expected over the coming days with plenty to look forward to for Poole fans.
