Five of the 2020 Poole Pirates are planning to put themselves through their paces in preparation for the commencement of the season, once it is given the green light from the UK Government and the sport's governing body.
Poole co-promoter Dan Ford revealed "All the team, with the exception of Adam (Ellis) and Ben (Cook) have been booked in for some behind closed doors practice at Leicester later this month."
"It will be an ideal opportunity for some of them to dust off the cobwebs, so to speak, as this session will be the first chance for them a few to get on track this year."
"I think it is useful that they will be practising together as that will surely help to fuse the team bonding, that we started by bringing the team together in France earlier in the year, just before the lockdown cut in. We all remain extremely positive and hopeful that speedway will be back in the next few months and as a club, we are looking at trying to establish some practice sessions at our own track in due course."
Club captain Danny King, winner of the only official meeting held on these shores when crowned as winner of the BEN Fund Bonanza attended the first practice session at Leicester on Sunday 7th June and wasted no time whatsoever in adjusting to the very wet track conditions, admitting himself that "I was full on into it despite how wet it is mainly because I don't know how to hold back. People often tell me to take that approach but it's the best way for me. The track was great and I have really got the bug back now."
