It Happened This Week in 1974

On 7th August 1974 Neil Middleditch made his first appearance for Poole.

The Pirates were racing against Exeter and 'Middlo was named at number eight (for the second time) and was sent out on track in heat 10 as Poole were operating rider replacement for Odd Fossengen.

'Middlo finished fourth behind Falcons' Scott Autrey who led home Pete Smith from Tony Lomas. 

Exeter went on to win the meeting 40-38, Middlo was to go on to etch his name into Pirates folklore scoring a Poole career 2380.5 points, captain the club and of course become one of the most successful team managers in British speedway history.
