POOLE'S PLATINUM number one Brady Kurtz returned to competitive racing on Saturday night contesting the New South Wales State Championship at Cowra.
Kurtz missed the Pirates last two meetings due to a shoulder injury sustained in the semi-final play-offs at Wimborne Road against Somerset which involved Jack Holder who was also in action on Saturday. And it was Holder who claimed the State Title, recovering from a first heat exclusion to win the A final from Sam Masters, Josh Pickering and Brady's brother Todd.
Brady himself scored 10 points in the qualifying heats a tally that was limited after being disqualified from his fifth schedule ride of the night, but his double figure achievement was sufficient to place him in the B final from where a shot at the title was still an opportunity for the winner. But in that B final Pickering and Ben Cook finished ahead of Kurtz who was fresh back in Australia after his trip to Abu Dhabi for the F1 Grand Prix.
Result: J.Holder 12+3 (Fx,3,3,3,3); S.Masters 14+2 (3,3,2,3,3); J.Pickering 10+1 (3,2,3,2,0); T.Kurtz 12+0 (2,3,2,2,3); B.Cook 10 (3,2,3,1,1); B.Kurtz 10 (2,3,2,3,X); J.MacDonald 12 (3,2,3,2,2); M.Gilmore 10 (1,1,2,3,3); Z.Cook 7 (2,0,1,2,2); I.Hawes 4 (0,2,0,0,2); M.Campton 4 (1,1,1,1,N); M.Pickering 4 (1,0,1,1,1); K.Thomson 3 (2,1,0,n,N); A.MacDonald 2 (0,1,1,n,N); A.Clare 2 (1,0,0,0,1); K.Lawrence 0 (0,0,0,0,0); J.Hook (Res) 2 (2)
