Matt Ford has expressed his heartfelt thanks to Volvo Cars Poole for “steadying the Pirates’ ship” while British speedway sailed through choppy waters
Despite the 2017 winter being an uncertain time as the sport negotiated a deal with broadcaster BT Sport, Volvo Cars Poole committed to a second season as the Pirates’ principle sponsor.
The company’s dedication paid off as the Pirates propelled themselves to the SGB Premiership title – the club’s eighth top-flight triumph in 15 years and one that came during the Pirates’ 70th anniversary year.
Ford said: “Volvo Cars Poole really showed what they are all about by coming on board at a time when the TV deal was still very much up in the air.
“They believed in the club when we really needed them to and our heartfelt thanks go to David Kelly and James Litton who have been a pleasure to deal with.
“Volvo Cars Poole continues to go from strength-to-strength, with a state-of-the-art new showroom on Ringwood Road and we are privileged to have worked alongside them and played a part in their success.”
The Pirates are now looking for a new principle sponsor for 2019 as they prepare to go all out to defend their top-flight title.
Ford added: “The incredible achievement of the team this season in winning the title meant that the club and Volvo Cars Poole received almost 50 hours of live and playback coverage on BT Sport in six months.
“When you add that to the amazing coverage from other media sources, including the Daily Echo, whose coverage of the club is immense, BBC South television and radio, who have walked every step of the club’s success, and sport publications like Speedway Star magazine, the amount of exposure the club receives really is incredible.
“This is an ideal opportunity for a company to join the Pirates on their 2019 journey as champions of the SGB Premiership, hitting a world-wide audience through BT Sport’s coverage.”
Any businesses interested in discussing becoming the club’s principle sponsor should contact Matt Ford via information@poolepirates.co in the first instance.
