PRESS DAY SNIPPETS
There is a unified feeling amongst the Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates that they can go one better in 2026 and secure the league, cup and BSN...
We are saddened to hear of the recent passing of KEN FREND, aged 92, who was Proprietor of Square Deal Caravans and friend to Poole Speedway for many years.
Ken attended the very first meeting at Poole in 1948 and was an ever-present until just five years ago when ill-health prevented him for coming to the stadium, although he never lost his enthusiasm for the Pirates and was always as interested to know how they were scoring, even to the day of his death.
Over the years Ken sponsored several riders, starting with Pete Smith and latterly Gary Allan and Steve Schofield.
His daughter Sue and younger son Paul have also been lifelong Pirate fans and still attend weekly.
The club extends condolences to all the family.
RIP KEN
