Four Poole schools are gearing up for the semi-finals of the Poole Speedway schools football tournament at Wimborne Road.

Talbot Primary became the final team to move through to the last four when they dispatched St Joseph’s 5-0 prior to the Volvo Cars Poole Pirates’ big 58-32 triumph over King’s Lynn on Wednesday.

Talbot Primary will now meet Heatherlands in the first semi-final before the Pirates lock horns with Somerset in the SGB Premiership Knockout Cup at Wimborne Road on Wednesday, June 27.

The second semi-final between Broadstone and Longfleet takes place on Wednesday, July 4 prior to the Pirates’ league clash with Belle Vue.

Poole promoter Matt Ford said: “This has been a great competition and I hope to see all the other schools in the area join us when it returns next year.

“I would like to publicly thank Trethowans solicitors who contacted me directly wishing to be involved in the tournament. Along with the club, they will be purchasing a new kit to hand over to the competition’s winning school.”

The two semi-finals kick off at 6.45pm prior to tapes-up at 7.30pm.

The final of the tournament is scheduled for Wednesday, July 11 at 6.45pm before the Pirates clash with Wolverhampton in the Premiership.
