NEXT ACTION: PIRATES V WOLVES - 23RD MAY

The 'Volvo Cars' Poole Pirates will be intent on building on their success of last week as they confront a solid-looking Wolverhampton side on Wednesday night at the Wimborne Road stadium.

The visitors were early pace-setters at the head of SGB Premiership table but have recently been deposed by Swindon, although have already bagged an away point this week, their second on their travels this season, losing at Leicester on Monday evening by just four points.

Poole's latest inclusion Richie Worrall helped Leicester engineer that victory as he scored paid 11 for the Lions so the Wolves side will be no strangers to him. Since having to miss the Pirates home win over Rye House seven days ago with a leg injury sustained in his British championship qualifier (from which he booked his place in next month's British Final), Worrall has been scoring well with paid 35 from 15 rides, across the leagues.

The racing will take centre-stage after Heatherlands take on Manorside in the second quarter final of the schools' football competition initiative introduced by promoter Matt Ford, who is hoping his Pirates can carry on from where they left off last time out.

"Wolves turned in a good performance at Leicester and will be gunning for a full haul of away points when they arrive here I'm sure. But I feel we have turned a corner now following those early season defeats and we were consistently strong throughout the team at home to Rye House last week.
"Richie's return is great news. He performed superbly on our home track last year when stepping in and I'm sure he will do the same again if his performance away at Rye House is anything to go by."

The Pirates are just one-quarter of the way through their league schedule and apart from an away meeting at Wolverhampton this coming Bank Holiday Monday, face a mini-run of home matches with Leicester (May 30th) and King's Lynn (June 13th) to follow.

Wolverhampton return to full strength on Wednesday after having to operate rider replacement for Kyle Howarth at Leicester as he was involved in a world championship qualifier at Abensberg. As with Pirates Brady Kurtz and Linus Sundstrom, who were at Slangerup and Lonigo respectively on Saturday, Howarth's hopes of making the GP Challenge were ended as he scored 6 points.
