PREVIEW: BELLE VUE V POOLE - MONDAY 16TH APRIL

15/04/18

Following their opening league triumph on Wednesday night, the Volvo Cars Poole Pirates travel to Manchester on Monday knowing that victory would give them an early league double over the Belle Vue Aces.

Whilst unchanged themselves from the team that recovered from a slow start at Wimborne Road to win by 10 points, the Pirates will be facing a different Aces septet  as Craig Cook is expected to re-join the side, the current British champion having missed the trip to Poole as it coincided with the birth of his daughter. With Steve Worrall sidelined with a broken leg, Lasse Bjerre steps in as guest coverage whilst Jye Etheridge may be a doubt after sustaining a wrist injury on Friday night which ruled him out of Glasgow's trip to Berwick on Saturday.

Pirates' number one Brady Kurtz will be keen to maintain his solid start to the British season, having secured a superb five ride maximum against the Aces. Prior to the Manchester trek, Kurtz is due to compete against fellow Pirate Linus Sundstrom in Poland as Fogo Unia Leszno meet Cash Broker Stal Gorzow. Skipper Josh Grajczonek rides for Orzel Lodz against Arge Speedway Wanda Krakow whilst Mateusz Sczepaniak and Kacper Woryna have trips to Daugavpils for ROW Rybnik.
Peter Kildemand scored 6 for Grupa Azoty Unia Tarnow on Saturday against forBet Wlokniarz Czestochowa

Whilst the Pirates are the only team to post league points so far in the SGB Premiership, there is plenty of league action planned for Monday with Wolverhampton hosting Rye House and Leicester at home to Somerset.

Monday teams (provisional from) -
Belle Vue - Dan Bewley, Lasse Bjerre (guest),Craig Cook, Jye Etheridge (subject to fitness), Max Fricke (capt), Paul Starke, Rohan Tungate - Team manager Mark Lemon
