PIRATES' YOUNGEST FAN NAILS HIS COLOURS TO THE MAST

10/04/18

A young motorsport fan has already nailed his colours to the mast - despite being just two weeks’ old!

Little Max West was born to speedway-mad parents Gareth West and Louise French, Poole Pirates season ticket holders from the Dorset town, on March 28.

The couple’s first child, Max was due on the SGB Premiership club’s annual press and practice day but held off just long enough for mum Louise to take in some of the action at the club’s Wimborne Road stadium.

Poole-born dad Gareth has been attending Pirates meetings since he was five years old and has only missed a handful of races in 30 years.

He met Louise, originally from Marlborough in Wiltshire, in 2014 and the couple attend the hugely anticipated British Speedway Grand Prix at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium every year as well as weekly meetings to watch the Pirates.

Louise said: “I actually found out I was pregnant on July 26 last year while we were watching Poole race against the Somerset Rebels. The Pirates lost that night so hopefully it won’t be an omen!”
