'VOLVO CARS' POOLE PIRATES still have a date against the reigning World Champion Jason Doyle despite the early cancellation of their Good Friday morning match against the 'Cases' Somerset Rebels.
Facing their second season in the top flight of British Speedway the Rebels will now take the first leg of the quarter final Knockout cup tie with a scheduled 7.30pm at the Oaktree Arena, Highbridge which during the winter has undergone extensive drainage works
The Rebels made a major swoop for Doyle once he was released by Swindon in the closed season and the 32 year old former Poole ride now begins his third spell as a Rebel. Joining him in the Somerset side will be another ex-Pirate, Jack Holder who made the winter move from Dorset with Josh Grajczonek, last season's skipper, making the move in the opposite direction.
With skipper Grajczonek and number one Brady Kurtz both proven prolific scorers around the Oaktree Arena the Volvo Cars Poole Pirates have just cause to fancy their chances, despite the meeting bringing track debuts for Poles Kacper Woryna and Mateusz Szczepaniak.
