CAPTAIN JOSH

17/03/18

Poole boss Matt Ford has announced his team captain for the club's 70th Anniversary season.

Returning Pirate Josh Grajczonek has been given the honour of captaining the Pirates with Ford admitting "there were plenty of options open to me and I believe whichever rider I had chosen would be strong enough to take on the role. I went in the end for Josh as a way of giving him a little bit extra responsibility so that he can really show what a good rider he is."

Grajczonek captained the Somerset Rebels, the Pirates' Good Friday opposition in the knockout cup, last season and therefore will have an understanding of the task ahead of him as he returns to Wimborne Road for the first time as a fully fledged Pirate since a brief 2015 spell.

Poole stage their Press and Practice day on Wednesday 21st March and follow that up with the season opener oN Friday 23rd March in a special 70th Anniversary individual meeting. Grajczonek's first captaincy duties will be on Monday 26th March when Poole travel to Wolverhampton to commence their Premiership league campaign.
