KYLE KEEN TO BE BACK FOR MONDAY

25/03/17

KYLE NEWMAN is hoping that the fall he sustained during Friday night's Darcy Ward Invitational Meeting will not rule him out of the VOLVO CARS POOLE PIRATES first fixtture of the season.

Newman suffered a heavy fall in the second heat of the special meeting for Ward, an event that was eventually abandoned after just 8 heats due to track conditions.

Initial reports were that he had aggravated a previous injury but Newman himself confirms "I've simply hurt some muscles in my shoulder and I hope if I can sit out tonight's match at Ipswich (an SGB Championship meeting against Sheffield) I can be fit enough to ride on Monday.

"We will need to see how it goes over the next day or two and make a decision then, but the aim is to ride next week. It's just frustrating to miss any matches at all.

"I'm gutted that the track wasn't fit to ride as it was shaping up to be a top night with a very good line-up. Hopefully we can get it run again and the guys come back."

Newman's 2017 team mate Nicolai Klindt will be on-track again this evening however, as he lines-up in the Cumberland Open Championship at Workington.
