There is a unified feeling amongst the Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates that they can go one better in 2026 and secure the league, cup and BSN...

The fast-approaching #WALK4DARCY project has received another significant boost with the news that Meridian Lifts has pledged its support.
The Tomlin family, founders of Meridian Lifts, have been longtime speedway enthusiasts and sponsors, and sponsored Darcy during his tragically short career, and now they have jumped on board to become an official sponsor of the project.
Meridian has agreed to help Steve and Jack with their accommodation costs, which is another timely boost as Steve looks to raise as much money as possible for the Darcy Ward Foundation.
‘Brando’ is delighted to have another backer, he said: “I’m just so grateful for the support we have received and my heartfelt thanks goes to Meridian for their help and support. Thanks to them, as well as our other accommodation partners, we can donate even more for Darcy because we don’t have to worry about costs.
“I rang Jo, from Meridian, and just asked whether they would be interested in helping us out and they didn’t even hesitate. I can’t thank them enough.”
"We are only too pleased to support the #WALK4DARCY project. Like every supporter of our sport, upon hearing the news of Darcy’s terrible accident last year we were shocked when we realised the severity of his injuries”, said Jo Tomlin of Meridian Lifts.
"The strength of Darcy’s (and Lizzie’s) ability to cope since that terrible time is truly admirable and should be harnessed by all of us. His talent and skill will be forever embedded in all our minds, as well as in history as one of the great racers of his generation, and, in the future, with his help, knowledge and mind-set can help further speedway albeit in a different light.
“So, when Brando’s name flashed up on my phone and asked for help with accommodation costs, we were only too happy to agree and we wish them well on their walk to Cardiff.”
