Young Australian sensation Brady Kurtz has been confirmed as the final starter for the 2017 Pirates and promoter Matt Ford reveals "it came something as a shock to the rider to be offered a deal"
Ford explained, "He was genuinely surprised when I invited him back for he felt that he hadn't done himself justice during 2016 but he, and also myself, firmly believe that he is better than his end of season performances. "
"I have total trust and confidence in him and I think now is the time for him to step forward and make his mark, both for the Pirates and on the international scene."
"2017 will be the season that is the turning point for BK and I am delighted to have him back at Wimborne Road, to complete a team that has good potential and development."
Kurtz begins the defence of his Australian title on January 4th in what will be the first of the four round series with events at Gillman (4th), Olympic Park, Mildura (7th), Undera (11th) and Loxford Park, Kurri-Kurri for the concluding round on the 14th.
The championship includes Sam Masters, Max Fricke, Rohan Tungate, Brady's brother Todd, Jordan Stewart, Troy Batchelor, Nick Morris, Justin Sedgmen, fellow Pirate Jack Holder, Mason Campton, Dave Watt, Ty Proctor, Jaimon Lidsey, Cooper Riordan, Joshua Pickering.
