WIDE OPEN FIELD FOR RIBAND

14/10/16

Tonight's Blue Riband event will bring the curtain down on the 2016 speedway season for the Poole 'ReadyPower' Pirates and Matt Ford is hoping to see a good showing from the assembled field.

"We have pulled together what is a well-balanced field and it is very difficult to pick a winner from the line-up. The meeting is wide-open and whilst the experience of the likes of British championship winners Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris could favour them the recent form of the likes of Kyle Newman and Adam Ellis, especially following their respective showings in the Elite League Riders' Championship places them well amongst the front-runners. Add in Edward Kennett, who always puts in a good stint at Wimborne Road then the British element is well covered.

"We have a wealth of talent from outside the UK including Frederik Jakobsen who has held a lifelong ambition to ride for the Pirates. Tonight could well provide an opening for him. I have had good reports about him and his keenness is immense, but the same could be said for all the field. I think this is a great way to bring what has been a tough season for the club to a close.

Line-up: Frederik Jakobsen, Kacper Gomolski, Adrian Cyfer, Kyle Newman, Adam Ellis, Krzysztof Buczkowski, Grzegorz Zengota, Troy Batchelor, Scott Nicholls, Marcin Nowak, Szymon Wozniak, Chris Harris, Edward Kennett, Adam Skornicki, Nick Morris, Bjarne Pedersen
