Pirates chief Matt Ford confirmed his side would take on Ipswich in the SGB Premiership semi-finals.
Ford’s 2019 septet secured a hugely impressive 51-39 triumph at King’s Lynn tonight – a result that saw them leapfrog Swindon to top the Premiership table and choice of semi-final opponents.
And Ford wasted no time in confirming the Witches would visit Wimborne Road in Monday’s first leg, before the return at Foxhall on September 26.
Ford said: “Finishing top of the table was our aim as soon as the tapes rose on this season and I’m absolutely delighted we’ve been able to achieve it.
“We won the title in real style last season, but as soon as the celebrations were over, our focus switched to defending it and I think that’s our aim now over the next few weeks.
“We’re really looking forward to taking on Ipswich next week, particularly at home where I know we’ll have huge support and it promises to be a really tough battle so I can’t wait.”
