PRESS DAY SNIPPETS
There is a unified feeling amongst the Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates that they can go one better in 2026 and secure the league, cup and BSN...
Along with 10 other local businessmen Steven Wells of DWP Housing Partnership has been challenged by Matt Ford at Poole Speedway to raise funds for Julia's House.
Steven chose a sponsored cycle ride together with a bunch of his friends to try and convert the £50 donated by Matt Ford to each of the 10 participating into a big as fund as possible in aid of the local charity which is dedicated to helping life-limited children and their families across the county by providing regular respite care at the hospice in Corfe Mullen and in their own homes.
Steven's cycle ride is 14 miles and whilst he admits tha it "isn't quite the Tour De France it will no doubt be taken seriously by all those taking part and will end up being a flat out sprint. Everyone I have invited to take part is raising their own sponsorship for Julia's House in the hope that between us we can raise £5000."
Funds are going quite well for Steven's task with over £600 pledged to-date and anyone wishing to support him can do so by visiting Steve's Justgiving page
The 10 companies involved in Matt's initial challenge are Coastal Aluminium, Wessex Marine, FIS Chemicals, Alan & Thomas Insurance, Meridian Lifts, Utility Advice Bureau, Sunrise, Aerosolutions, DWP Housing and Ego.
