FALLS FOR PIRATES IN GP SEMIS

Semi-final crashes for Chris Holder and Maciej Janowski, in separate incidents at the semi-final stage of the Danish Grand Prix in Horsens on Saturday night cost both Pirates a chance of a final appearance.

Poole skipper Maciej Janowski collected three race wins on his way to an 11-point total whilst Holder had an opening ride win backed up with three second places and a third to be one point adrift of the Pole.

The pair had to face series leader Tai Woffinden and Slovenian Matej Zagar in the first of the semi-finals which saw Holder fall whist trailing causing a re-run without him. Janowski looked destined for a place in the final four in the early stages of the re-start but Zagar made a pass on him, Janowski then crashing out himself.

Peter Kildemand, having been felled by Woffinden in the first attempt of the final was crowned winner of the debut event at Horsens , finishing ahead of Zagar and Michael Jepsen Jensen after Woffinden's disqualification.

Despite his elimination Woffinden extended his series lead to 13 ahead of Dane Nicki Pedersen.

Holder is fifth in the standings, four shy of Zagar (65) whilst Janowski holds 8th place on 58.
