There is a unified feeling amongst the Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates that they can go one better in 2026 and secure the league, cup and BSN...
Poole captain Maciej Janowski bounced back quickly from his three point yield in the British GP at Cardiff to be crowned Polish champion on Sunday evening.
Janowski who scored in just one heat during the Adrian Flux British FIM Speedway Grand Prix when he won heat 7 beating first time out winner Matej Zagar moved to Gorzow on Sunday and picked up five second places during the qualifying heats which earned him a semi-final spot from where a further second place, behind home rider Tomasz Gapinski secured a chance to go for the title in the final.
To do so he had to break his sequences of second places, a task made harder as he was up against Bartosz Zmarzlik, the 2014 GP winner at the venue. Janowski maintained his composure and gained that precious race win to claim the crown.
Janowski will be back in action at Wimborne Road on Wednesday night (7.30pm) when the Pirates take on Lakeside and along with British GP runner-up Chris Holder, he will be assured of a very warm reception.
Polish Final Result: M.Janowski 10+2+3; B.Zmarzlik 14+2; T.Gapinski 12+3+1; J.Kolodziej 13+0; G.Zengota 11+1; K.Kasprzak 11+0; P.Swiderski 9; Mat.Szczepaniak 7; Prz.Pawlicki 7; K.Buczkowski 6; S.Ulamek 5; P.Protasiewicz 5; A.Cyfer 4; Mic.Szczepaniak 3; Z.Suchecki 2; K.Pieszczek 1.
