KING'S LYNN 47 POOLE 43

22/05/14

Poole went some way to making up for their dropped points against Coventry by snatching a consolation at the home of current league leaders King's Lynn thanks to some wheel-align perfect team riding from skipper Darcy Ward in heat 15.

In only his second league match this season for the Pirates Ward partnered up with the man that had been caretaker captain during his injury-forced absence, Maciej Janowski to bank a concluding 5-1 that gave the Pirates a much deserved league point.

Having twice fought back from an 8 point deficit the never-say-die Pirates who had to track just one Pirate in three of the heats following disqualification, the Pirate Pride was in great abundance, none more so than when Vaclav Milik battled furiously to join Ward in a 5-1 in heat 11 that closed the gap to just two points.

But the impressive duo of Lewis Kerr and Niklas Porsing recovered the situation for the Stars in the very next heat before Magic Janowski comfortably won heat 13 as Ward was just denied a point by a strong comeback from Iversen on the chase to the flag, Ward having tailed for most of the heat.

Milik did the business again by determinedly splitting Lambert and Kerr in re-run heat 14 after Newman had fallen and that move kept the Pirates hopes alive allowing the past and present skipper to deliver the goods in the final showdown
