NEWMAN MISSES OUT ON BRITISH FINAL

20/05/15

Poole's reserve Kyle Newman failed to make progress from the British Semi-final round held at King's Lynn on Wednesday (20th May) evening.

Requiring a top 7 finish to claim a place in the British Final, which holds an opportunity to secure a  place in the British Grand Prix at Cardiff, Newman could only score 4 points from his 5 rides on a night when no fewer than five riders all 'topped' the scorecard with 11 points a piece.

The Poole youngster failed to score from his first two rides which added pressure to his hopes of qualifying. His account opened with a third place behind Leigh Lanham and Stefan Nielsen after being involved in a clash with the excluded James Wright in heat 10.

Newman trebled his score three races later when he finished behind meeting winner Scott Nicholls and ahead of Steve Worrall and reserve Ryan Kinsley, the latter covering for Robert Lambert who was ruled out of the action after a heat 5 crash. Newman could only add one further point to his tally when in heat 19 he was beaten by Adam Roynon and Simon Lambert, beating Lewis Rose in the process.

Meeting Scorers:  Scott Nicholls (Belle Vue) 11; Danny King (Coventry /Ipswich); Leigh Lanham (Somerset) 11;  Craig Cook 11 (Belle Vue/Edinburgh) 11;
Kyle Howarth (Swindon/Workington) 11; Tai Woffinden (Unattached) 10; Carl Wilkinson(Scunthorpe) 9: Adam Roynon 9; Charles Wright 8; Steve Worrall 8; Stefan Nielsen 7; Simon Lambert 5; Kyle Newman 4; Lewis Rose 2; 'Robert Lambert 2, Scott Campos 1 (res), James Wright 0, Ryan Kinsley 0 (res).
