There is a unified feeling amongst the Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates that they can go one better in 2026 and secure the league, cup and BSN...
Defending league champions Poole ReadyPower Pirates have moved to bring back Josh Grajczonek on a temporary basis following the injury to fellow Australian Dave Watt.
37 year old Watt suffered a broken left foot and ankle ligament damage in a freak crash in Poland on Sunday, whilst competing in his Polish club Krakow's Pairs Meeting.
The injury is likely to rule the Queenslander out for 4 to 6 weeks, although the man who has played his part in 4 league titles as a Pirate plus one runners-up medal, is seeking a treatment plan that could hasten his recovery.
Poole Promoter Matt Ford though has acted swiftly in submitting a re-declaration to the BSPA to recall Josh Grajczonek, himself a two-times league winner as a Pirate.
Grajczonek lost his Pirates' place at the start of the season and re-linked up with Premier league club Somerset after a season of doubling-up with Workington and Poole but was high on Ford's wanted list.
"I am very pleased to welcome Josh back in this temporary measure and whilst we won't be able to use him on Friday evening when we are at Swindon due to his Somerset commitments, he will be in for the Good Friday morning, which opens our league campaign."
"I feel so gutted for Davey as he had worked really hard to get back to full fitness after several knocks last season and I know that he is extremely frustrated with this latest situation."
"His injuries are, I am led to believe, pretty nasty and they will take a little time to heal and covering all that time with rider replacement and or guests wouldn't have been an ideal situation."
"Josh was keen to come back and I am sure that it will be a seamless transition during Watty's absence."
Poole welcome back both Chris Holder and Kyle Newman for the Good Friday racing fest but will be without both Paul Starke for the evening as he like Grajczonek will be on PL duty with Somerset.
