PIRATES ACCEPT REBELS INVITE

4/02/15

Poole Readypower Pirates will face three meetings in as many nights once they commence their 2015 racing campaign, after agreeing to a challenge fixture against Premier League side Somerset Rebels.

With Poole opening their season with the two-legged Elite Shield against King's Lynn on Wednesday 25th March their three-in-three schedule will provide a good early season test of fitness before embarking on attempts to win a third successive Elite title.

The Friday night (27th) trip to the Oak Tree Arena, highly rated as one of the best racing strips on the circuit, will be the Rebels' opener for the season and Poole boss Matt Ford has pledged to put out a full strength side as possible against the club that were narrowly denied what would have been a second successive Premier League title for them, when beaten 96-95 on aggregate by Edinburgh.

"It will be a busy start for us but I am pleased that we have been able to organize this extra meeting against Somerset and with it being so local I hope that quite a few Poole fans will make the trip to the OTA to get behind the team. The place always seems to dish up some great speedway and I know for sure that Garry (May) will be firing his boys up to try and gain the bragging rights so the contest will have that extra edge to it"  Matt Ford claimed.
