2015 Pirate debutant Dakota North reached his third A final of the four round Australian Championship at a wet Kurri Kurri, New South Wales raceway on Saturday to finish overall 5th place in the championship and is in line for a stab at GP qualification for the 2016 world series.
Former Pirate Jason Doyle claimed the National title, securing the 6 points he required going into the last round in his first two outings before going on to drop just one point all evening. Doyle's only defeat came at the hands of another one-time Pirate, Rohan Tungate when they met in heat 17, but Doyle avenged for that defeat by triumphing in the A final.
North, winner of the B final went into the final race of the championship still with hopes of securing a rostrum place but machinery problems in that A final cost him a medal chance as he finished on 47 points.
2014 title winner Chris Holder was forced to miss this final round as he is nursing a dislocated wrist sustained in a practice session crash ahead of Wednesday's third round.
